1. Have You Booked the Service Elevator?
Most condo buildings require you to reserve the service elevator for your move. Bookings usually come in time blocks, and popular slots, like month-end weekends, fill up fast. Contact your management office as soon as you have a moving date, and get the booking confirmed in writing.
You’ll often need to book the elevator at both buildings: the one you’re leaving and the one you’re moving into.
2. Where Does the Truck Go?
Ask your building where moving trucks are allowed to park. Many towers have a loading dock with its own booking and height limits. Others want trucks at a side entrance. Knowing this ahead of time saves a lot of time on the clock.
3. Is There a Deposit or Paperwork?
Some buildings ask residents for a refundable move-in or move-out deposit. Some ask the moving company for a certificate of insurance. We’re licensed and insured, so just send us your building’s requirements when you book and we’ll take care of our side.
4. How Long Is Your Move Window?
If your elevator booking is, say, three hours, everything needs to be out (or in) within that time. To stay inside the window:
- Have every box packed and sealed before the crew arrives
- Take apart beds and large furniture ahead of time, or ask us to
- Pick a crew size that matches your unit. A 3-mover crew often makes the difference on a 2-bedroom
- Stay near your phone so building staff can reach you
5. Protecting the Building
Buildings care about their elevators and hallways. Many hang protective pads in the service elevator on moving day. Our crew wraps furniture in moving blankets and moves carefully through common areas, so nothing gets scraped along the way.
6. Will Your Furniture Fit?
Condo doors, hallways and elevators are tighter than most houses. Measure big pieces, especially sectionals, king beds and dining tables. If they won’t fit in one piece, we can take them apart and rebuild them in your new unit.
